Barcodes allow businesses to promote and measure customer interactions via mobile

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (September 14, 2011) – Universal Business Listing (www.UBL.org) today announced its customers will be able to create and distribute advanced 2D barcodes, also referred to as  QR codes, as part of its business profile syndication service, available directly through  UBL’s retail channel.  2D barcodes are digital or printed images that can be scanned by a mobile device which then directs a consumer to a webpage, video, message, call, promotion or any type of online experience the business chooses to display.

By using Neustar’s barcode registry service, UBL’s customers have the ability to make real-time changes to content, destination or application associated with these 2D codes at any time. Most barcodes today have the URL or content hard-coded directly into the barcode image.  This is a significant risk and limitation for businesses that want to easily change promotional web pages or advertising campaigns or change the agencies and vendors running those campaigns.
